1-DIN and 2-DIN mounting frames

Before you buy a car radio mounting frame, you must know which car radio will be installed. Is this a 1-Din or 2-Din radio? 1-Din car radios usually have a small display screen and the dimensions are 180 x 50 millimeters. This is the standard car radio format with the basic options such as DAB+, USB or AUX.

A 2-Din car radio is 180 x 100 millimeters and has the advantage that a screen is built in. Installing a 2-Din car radio is not possible in every car because the dimensions may not correspond to the possibilities in the dashboard of the car.

Install car radio mounting frame

Placing a new mounting frame is in most cases necessary when installing a new car radio. Accessories are generally not included with the radio. So always check whether more parts are needed when replacing the car radio. When installing a car radio, it is important to work carefully and to take plenty of time to install it properly.

First of all, the old radio will have to be removed. You can remove it with an unlocking key. You insert this into the holes of the car radio, after which it will come loose. You can now disconnect the wiring and connectors and remove the radio and frame. The new car radio can then be installed. First place the new mounting frame and check whether the cables and plugs fit into the new radio. Before you fasten the radio, it is useful to test it. Does everything work well? Then you can fix the new car radio in the new mounting frame.
