1-DIN and Double din car stereo

There are actually two types of car radios. There is the 1-DIN car stereo and the Double DIN car stereo. The word DIN indicates the dimension of the radio. This means that there are two types of dimensions. The 1-DIN is the standard format car radio with a small display. These often have the standard radio functions, with or without DAB+, Bluetooth, USB and AUX. A Double DIN car stereo is often double the size of a 1-DIN radio and has a large touchscreen. These car radios often have a lot more function than a 1-DIN. Often they include navigation functions, hands-free calling, movie functions and many more. However, there are also 1-DIN car radio’s that have a folding screen or an option to place your smartphone. These radios, therefore, have the standard format, but the advantages of a Double DIN car stereo.

Car stereo Bluetooth

In addition to choosing the format of the radio, you can also choose a radio with or without Bluetooth. Bluetooth car stereos have many advantages over those without Bluetooth. With a Bluetooth car radio, you can stream music wirelessly. In this case, you no longer have to use AUX cables or USB / SD. Another big advantage of a Bluetooth car stereo is, that it makes hands-free calling in the car possible.

FM or DAB car radio

Most of you are familiar with the analogue FM and/or AM tuner radio. But, nowadays there are also DAB car radios. DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting and is the standard for digital channels. DAB+ is again the successor of the DAB car radios and stands for more quality and more channels. With a DAB+ car stereo, you can listen to interference-free radio with all channels on one fixed frequency. Another advantage of a DAB car radio is that you are always up to date with the latest news. File update and (soccer) match results will appear on the display. But be aware, for a DAB car radio you also need a DAB antenna. Your normal car antenna is not suitable. Most of the times the antenna will be supplied with the car stereo. Install car stereo

Do you want to install the car radio yourself? This is not a hard task and you definitely can do it yourself. But before you can start, you need a number of tools such a flat screwdriver (small and large) and an unlock key to be able to remove your old car radio. First, you will have to remove the old car radio. For this you need the unlock key, you need to put these in the intended holes and the car radio will come loose. Pull it out and disconnect the plugs. Next, you can remove the radio and the stereo frame. Check whether the plugs of the old radio match with the new one, if so, connect your new radio. If not, you can order new plugs and cables at Winparts. Before you install the radio properly, make sure the radio works correctly. Is it working properly? Then slide the radio into the frame and secure it.
