Penetrating oil & lubricants
Penetrating oil is a type of oil that easily gets into the small interstices of parts. Penetrating oil is mainly used to prevent rust on car parts. In addition, penetrating oil is a handy tool for cleaning parts or for loosening nuts, for example. We do not recommend using penetrating oil as a lubricant. Penetrating oil only provides lubrication for a short time, which would cause friction and thus wear to the parts too quickly. Lubricants such as assembly paste and copper grease, on the other hand, are used to lubricate the moving parts. By using lubricants, the car will be better maintained, because wear on moving car parts is reduced.
Types of penetrating oil and lubricants
At Winparts you will find different types of penetrating oil and lubricants, namely: grease, spray and oil. There are different types of greases and oils, each suitable for a different application. But what is the difference and what is it used for? Below we briefly explain which lubricants are available and how they can be used.
Grease
Grease has a high viscosity level, so grease can be used to lubricate car parts that can become very hot while driving. Greases are very suitable for permanently lubricating parts. Fat is made to keep doing its job for a long time. At Winparts you will find different types of grease, namely:
brake grease , copper grease and ceramic grease .
Brake grease offers protection against corrosion of brake parts such as brake pads and brake calipers . You can use brake grease for maintenance of these brake parts or, for example, when replacing the brake pads and brake calipers.
Copper grease is a type of paste that can withstand extreme temperatures. Copper grease is mainly used to lubricate parts that can become very hot. Think, for example, of the exhaust parts and spark plugs . This prevents the rusting of the car parts and allows them to maintain a longer life.
Ceramic grease is the replacement for copper grease. Ceramic grease can withstand even more extreme temperatures (between -180 C and +1200 C). This type of grease can be used for mounting bolts, nuts, brake discs and spark plugs. Ceramic grease ensures that the mounting parts do not rust or burn together.
Oil
Oil is very suitable for lubricating and protecting car parts against rust and corrosion. Unlike grease, oils are less suitable for parts that are exposed to extreme temperatures. Oil would evaporate too quickly in these extreme conditions.
Chain oil is used to lubricate the chain of, among other things, sports, cross, touring and mopeds. By lubricating the chain you ensure that it continues to run smoothly.
Penetrating oil is a means that is suitable for lubricating parts that you cannot reach yourself. This oil 'creeps' towards the parts, as it were, and can lubricate the car parts in very small spaces and protect them against rust and wear.
Sprays
In addition to lubricants such as grease and oil, you will also find sprays in our range. With a spray, the liquid is easy to distribute evenly over the surface where you want to apply the liquid.
An example of such a spray is the silicone spray or contact spray.
Silicone spray is moisture-repellent and therefore ideal for protecting hinges, rubber, electrical installations and chrome against moisture. Silicone spray also works well against freezing car parts.
Another spray in our range is
contact spray . Contact spray is suitable for quickly removing oil and dirt from electrical car parts such as spark plugs or switches . This spray dries quickly and ensures that no dust is attracted.
